Turquoise Check Coat

I know I have mentioned on numerous occasions how much I like Spacesuit- but you might have forgotten so I feel obliged to mention it again.

I love Spacesuit clothing. Real heaps. Here are some of the reasons why.

  • A lot of it is sourced in Asia so a lot of their styles have that quirky feel to them.
  • They usually keep the lines on a smallish scale so you can still feel like you won't run into another 20 people wearing the same thing.
  • Best of all- the prices are not through the roof so it won't break the budget to buy a few items at once. Lucky that- as it is so far away I try and stock up when I am there. (As previously mentioned- it is way too easy to self justify additional expenses when it comes to fashion!)

This coat was purchased in the good ol' days when Spacesuit was still a staple on K Rd. It checks all the right boxes (and a couple extra) for a great Winter coat. Good colour. Great pattern on the fabric. Flattering cut. (neck line and waist line in fact) Feature in the style. The feature being the patterned bell details on the end of the cuffs. A nice addition to really set it apart form any number of cost living in the wardroom....

So to summarise this fabulous item- turquoise and black checkered dress coat with belt tied waist and gathered bell cuffed detailing. Perfect.

Bell Sleeved

I feel like I have been neglecting my first love era of vintage frocks lately- the 70's.

I haven't bought a new 70's dress in quite a long time. I have been all distracted by 40's glamour and 50's circle skirts. Right up until I found this great little number on Cuba St that is!

It is a great combo of cut and pattern. The cut is a short mini shift dress with bell sleeves and a square neckline. (replicated on the back but a little lower)

The pattern is a navy blue and white check with diagonal stripes AND a floral twist in bright green, red and yellow. So many options for accessorising!

I have teamed it with patent yellow stiletto's in this picture- but have worn it with tights and black boots and also tried it with red heels. It works in all of those directions.

Yellorange Checkers

I had a pretty fantastic day today. I found out that a band I really like are opening for another band I really like. I had 2 dresses and 2 petticoats delivered to me at work from my latest trademe purchases. I won a raffle at work and took home a platter of handmade Christmas chocolates. I officially weigh 8kgs less than I did last time I weighed myself- AND I got to wear this awesome dress for the first time since last Summer.

This dress is one of those garments that puts you in a better mood just for being in it. It's so bright and impossible to ignore! I have been wearing it for the last 5 Summers now and so far it has lost none of the original charm that made me fall in love with it in the first place.

I found this little piece of happiness on Trademe. I knew as soon as I saw it that it was a winner- and from memory I managed to slip under the radar with it. Nobody else even bid on it. (But I watched the auction closing like a hawk just in case they dared try!)

You can't actually see my feet- but I have worn it today with my black chuck taylor high tops.

What else says "Hey there sunshine" quite like a gigantic yellow flower for my hair? Not much I can tell you...

I must say that I am quite excited about the impending Christmas festivities and the associated frocks I have lined up for the next few days. Stay tuned!
